My mother always made her raisin sauce for holiday dinners. The secret is maple balsamic vinegar. It adds a nice flair to a boring ham! It’s perfect for holiday season and the leftovers are delightful.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups water

1 cup golden raisins

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon maple balsamic vinegar (substitute 1 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup & 1 1/2 balsamic vinegar)

1 1/2 tablespoons corn starch

1/4 teaspoon dry mustard

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

In a small saucepan boil the raisins in the water for 5 minutes.  Lower the heat and add the rest of the ingredients whisking for a few minutes until the mixture becomes thick. Serve on the side with warm sliced ham.
