Gratitude — the word of the month for November
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, we find ourselves caught between the fading colors of fall and the fast-approaching rush of the holiday season. The world feels full — full of noise, obligations, and uncertainty. In times like these, gratitude can feel like something we should feel rather than something we really feel.
But what if we made a conscious effort to make space for it?
What if, just a few times a day, we took a pause — a deep breath — and simply noticed? The world offers countless small invitations to gratitude if we slow down enough to recognize them. The way sunlight filters through bare branches. The warmth of a favorite sweater pulled close. The comfort of a hug that says “I see you.” The taste of hot soup on a cold night, or hot chocolate around a warm fire.
Gratitude doesn’t have to be grand or loud. It can live quietly in the ordinary moments — in the simple act of paying attention. And when we choose to notice, we begin to remember that even in the busiest, darkest seasons, there is still so much light to be found. Something to contemplate over a Maple Pecan Latte.

Maple Pecan Latte
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup pecan halves
- 1 1/4 cup milk
- 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar optional
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 shots brewed espresso 2 shots per latte
Instructions
- Soak the pecan halves and milk for at least 5-10 minutes (or longer, if possible).
- Blend the pecans and milk together until smooth.
- Use a nut milk bag or a mesh colander to strain the pecans (optional, but recommended to prevent a grainy texture).
- Heat up the strained pecan milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add in the maple syrup, brown sugar (optional), and cinnamon.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, whisking often.
- Pour the mixture into each coffee mug.
- Brew 2 shots of espresso for each latte.
- Pour into the milk and enjoy!
