With spring’s arrival, colors are abundant as Grammy and Caroline embark on a delightful culinary adventure as our favorite duo prepares to craft a sweet indulgence: homemade donuts. Take a delicious journey to transform simple ingredients into golden rings of sugary delight – with lots of shared sprinkles!

2 1/3 cup of flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp of oil
2 tsp vanilla
One large egg
1 and 1/2 cups Buttermilk

For the glaze:
1 c powdered sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons of milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Food coloring
sprinkles or other toppings optional

Preheat oven to 350°. Lightly coat the donut pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl mix together the milk, eggs, butter, and vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Fill the donut pan about 2/3 full using a piping bag. Bake the donuts for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly golden or when an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool – then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the glaze whisk together the powdered sugar milk and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Add milk as needed to achieve your desired consistency. Add food coloring to the glaze for different colored donuts. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and allow any excess to drip off.

If desired add sprinkles. (We added a lot.)
