In Grammy’s kitchen, the holiday magic starts as Luke and Zoey Bradley pull up chairs beside Caroline as they help mix, roll, and dip their way through a batch of bright green Grinch balls.
The crunch of sprinkle, the sounds of giggles, and gentle chatter, create the promise of a simple Christmas treat made even better by making it together.
Happy Holidays from Cooking with Grammy!
Grinch Balls
INGREDIENTS
36 OREOs – You can use Gluten Free
8 oz cream cheese softened
1 ½ cups melting wafers (Grinch Green color is best)
sprinkles
INSTRUCTIONS
Crush OREOs in a food processor until you get a fine crumb. You don’t want any large crumbs left for this recipe!
Use a spatula to mix together the cream cheese and crushed OREOs. This can take a minute, but be patient, it will come together. Mix until no cream cheese streaks remain.
Scoop OREO balls onto a parchment lined baking sheet. I like to make them about 1 Tablespoon in size. You can do this easily with a cookie dough scoop, or just use a measuring spoon and your hands to form it into a ball.
Place in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
Melt melting wafers according to package directions. Dip the OREO balls into the melted candy and remove.
Cover with sprinkles quickly before the melt starts to harden! Allow to set up completely, then serve!
