Dear Santa,

Hope all is going well at the North Pole. Please tell the elves I said “hello” and give Rudolph a big kiss on the nose for me.  Hope Mrs. Claus is doing awesome and give her my warm regards.

I just thought I would let you know that I am doing great and feeling very healthy.  This year has been very wonderful to me.  I am sure you have been checking on me and I hope I made your nice list. This past year I have been busy with school, life, projects and being a teenager.  But it hasn’t been all work and no play because I did make time to have tons of fun.  I had a smile on my face throughout the year and I hope I have made others smile as well.

Of course, I have a list of presents that I would like to have.  It’s saved on my Amazon Wishlist that I have forward to my parents.  But that is not why I am writing you this letter.  You see, this letter isn’t about giving or getting, it is about taking away.  Yes, I want something to be taken away.  There are kids that don’t deserve this something and it needs to go away now. And, I want it also taken away from their families as well. You see, there are children out there that have cancer, and are fighting for their lives. This cancer is taking away their health, their childhood, and maybe their life.  There are over 15,000 children diagnosed with pediatric cancer every year.  Since 1980, fewer than 10 drugs have been developed for use in children with cancer. Only 4% of federal government cancer research funding goes to study pediatric cancer.  I never quite understood this lack of research thing.  I will never know why this cancer thing happens in the first place.  But it does. These precious, beautiful children full of sweet innocence don’t deserve this and neither does their family.  I am requesting that this Christmas, is to take it away. Take all cancer away from these children. Take away their hurt, their pain, and take away their sickness. Just take away this darn cancer for good.  And I do not wish for it to return.

Much Love,
Jessica
