Sandy and Caroline embark on a delightful culinary adventure as they prepare a traditional favorite dessert, a mouthwatering dump cake. The kitchen was a hub of excitement as they gathered the ingredients – a can of sweet cherries, a can of crushed pineapple, and a box of yellow cake mix. Mixing the sweet, fruity filling was an art, and they layered it with the cake mix, generously topping it all with pats of butter. With the oven preheated, they eagerly anticipated the tantalizing aroma that would soon fill the air as their dump cake baked to perfection. In the end, Grammy and Caroline’s dump cake was a delicious treat and a beautiful representation of the love and traditions shared between generations in their kitchen.

Dump Cake

1 can (20 oz) – pineapple tidbits, drained
1 can (21 oz) – cherry pie filling
1 box yellow cake mix
1 1/2 sticks of butter, cut into thin slices

Preheat oven to 350°F.. Spray a 9 X 13-inch baking dish with nonstick baking spray.
Dump the crushed pineapple with the juice (1 can) into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly

Dump the cherry pie filling (1 can) on top of the crushed pineapple and spread evenly.

Evenly spread (dump it in!) the cake mix (1 box) over top of the layers of pineapple and cherry and press down firmly.

Resist the temptation to stir it all together!

Arrange the butter slices evenly over the top of the cake mix.
Bake in the preheated oven, for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is deep golden brown and bubbly.

Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

Give your kids/grandkids and hug and dive into some cake fun!
