December is here!  We made it past Halloween and Thanksgiving, and now we’re full swing into the holiday season.  It seems like with every passing year, stores are decorating for December before we even hit Halloween.  It has become somewhat of a joke in my circles that you go in for candy corn and are already looking at candy canes. It feels good to be firmly planted in the “right” season with December now upon us. As one who loves to decorate, the sparkling lights and décor are one of my favorite parts of the holiday.

This time of the year may mean different things to each of us.  For many, it is a time to reconnect with loved ones  For others, it’s about serving others.  For some, it can be a time of sadness and reflection. There are adventures to be had, gifts to be bought, prayers to be said, meals to be prepared, and joy to be spread. At the end of the day, we all experience the holidays in our own way.   Whatever this time of the year means to you, thank you for being part of Unconditionally Her this holiday season.

What are some of your favorite traditions?  I love to set a festive table! While I don’t go “all out” every year and sometimes I lean more towards casual, I do love to be creative. Over the last three years, I have dabbled in tablescaping – a fancy way of saying decorating a tabletop in fun and creative ways – and have now won two competitions including one at my church where I set a sparkly pink and gold Christmas-themed table.   Decorating probably is my favorite holiday tradition, and I do it for multiple holidays throughout the year but much more in December.  Reach out to us and let us know what some of yours are. We would love to hear from you and might even include it in one of our features!

This month Unconditionally Her is putting on our festive hats.  Lots of great recipes including Sue’s Christmas Brownies, Sandy’s Pistachio and Cranberry Cookies, and a Christmas Margarita for Cocktail Hour that will make this time of the year delicious and fun.  Travel –Destination Diaries takes us to New York and New England – Book Club, and articles that capture the spirit of the season with a focus on family, faith, fun, and good health.  I will be sharing managing stress during “the most joyful time of the year” as part of my A Time to Bloom health and wellness series, and we’ll have articles from our contributors that are perfect for the season.

Here’s to a time to reflect on seasons past with dreams of what’s in store for the year ahead.  Thank you for spending December with us!
