If January was a gentle reset, February feels like the moment we ease into it, like settling back into a favorite chair with a warm cup of hot tea – or cocoa or coffee, take your pick!

The rush of the new year has softened, routines are finding their rhythm, and winter is still holding on here in Tennessee. This year, it reminded us just how powerful, and how unforgiving, it can be. Historic winter storm Fern spread ice and snow across more than 30 states, and here at home left nearly 300,000 Tennesseans without power, including 230,000 in Middle Tennessee alone. Trees were damaged, pipes burst, roads froze, and for many families, those cold days brought real hardship and uncertainty. And yet, in true southern fashion, we also witnessed neighbors checking in, lending a hand, and showing up for one another when it mattered most.

After all of that, February feels like a pause at the kitchen table, a moment to catch our breath, check on one another, and reflect on what truly matters when things get hard.  February may be known for love, but I like to think of it as a month of connection. Connection to one another, to our communities, and to the small comforts that steady us when the days are cold and the nights linger a little longer. It’s a time to continue the gentle reset we talked about last month, tending to what’s already growing instead of rushing the season along.

Inside these pages, at least for the first two weeks, you’ll find we are celebrating all things “love” with the things you’ve come to love –  incredible recipes for this special Valentine’s, a gathering of celebration amongst family and friends, two (not just one) Destination Diaries feature from the cold south to the warm heart of South Africa,  along with plenty of inspiring features for the season. We’re sharing more cozy sips and comforting recipes, Book Club with Becky selections perfect for curling up on a winter evening. I’m also especially honored to include a special “Tea and Tidbits” article from my visit to Thistle Farms, which for 25 years has lit a pathway of healing and hope for women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. And in this month’s A Time to Bloom coaching feature, “The Heart of Connection,” we explore how deepening relationships, romantic, family, friendships, and community ties, nurtures our relationships & community and spirit & soul, and how meaningful connection supports mental, emotional, and even physical well-being.

As we move through February together, I hope you’ll find warmth in familiar rituals, comfort in community, and reassurance that even in winter, something good is always taking root. Sometimes progress is slow and steady, sometimes quiet and unseen, but it’s there all the same.

Here’s to a February filled with comfort, connection, and the promise of brighter days just around the bend.
