Healthy Kids, Healthy Foods

It’s no secret, good health looks good on everybody, including our kids.    With so many pressures on families these days, it is a challenge to eat healthy and prepare meals and snacks that are not only appealing but help children and youth maintain a healthy body weight.  September is Childhood Obesity month, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cites1 in 5 children in the United States are obese.    MyPlate is an excellent resource for all of us, including families!  Take a look at some of the recipes at What’s Cooking? USDA Mixing Bowl  where you can have a new recipe each month delivered straight to your inbox.  You can access cookbooks, search for recipes, create and print your own cookbook, and more.  Small changes = big successes over time.

Watch the video, MyPlate, MyWins:  Real Solutions from Real Families, below to learn more about MyPlate and how six families make MyPlate work for them. There are multiple videos on a variety of topics all inspiring healthy eating and living well. You can link to all of the videos through the link below.
