Some drinks happen because you’re trying to follow a recipe. Others happen because you’re simply playing around in the kitchen and stumble onto something you can’t wait to make again.

This one was definitely the second.

I wanted something that felt like summer at the lake—bright, refreshing, beautiful, and just a little unexpected. As I poured the grenadine into the glass and watched the colors slowly drift together, I couldn’t stop staring at it. It reminded me of the evenings when the sun begins to disappear behind the trees and everything seems to glow for just a few minutes.

The Hydrangea Sunset is light, citrusy, and just sweet enough without becoming overpowering. The pineapple juice gives it a fresh tropical flavor, while the ginger ale keeps everything crisp and bubbly. And please trust me on one thing—use freshly squeezed lemon juice. It truly makes all the difference.

Whether you’re sitting on the porch, entertaining friends, or simply celebrating that you made it through another week, this is one of those cocktails that somehow makes the moment feel a little more special.

Hydrangea Sunset

Makes: 2-3 cocktails

Ingredients

Directions

In a large pitcher or cocktail shaker, combine the pineapple juice, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, vodka, and ginger ale. Stir gently until everything is well mixed.

Fill glasses with plenty of ice and pour in the cocktail mixture.

Finish each glass with a splash of grenadine. Let it naturally settle through the drink before giving it a gentle stir if desired.

Garnish with a fresh lemon slice and serve immediately.

Sometimes the prettiest cocktails are also the simplest.

A Note From Our Cocktail Hour

For the prettiest presentation, add the grenadine after the drink has been poured into the glasses rather than stirring it completely into the pitcher. That little ribbon of red creates and elevated beautiful Hydrangea Sunset glow.

Please enjoy responsibly. 🙂
