Love – and Kindness – Is in the Air
Here we are, the month of hearts and love! Queue up the Lion King and Elton John “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” which is the first thing that pops up and is playing in my mind when I think about “the month of love.” We LOVE our readers and one of the ways we can share our love with you all is through the great features we bring each month, carefully curated JUST for you!
Most think about Valentine’s Day with the mention of February, but did you know that February also includes Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is observed on February 17th? It makes sense that February is the perfect time for this observance since kindness and love go together. Why not make a deal with yourself to do something kind for someone else on February 17th this year? In the words of Morgan Freeman, “How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.” Princess Diana got it right, too, saying, “Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.” What would the world look like if every single one of us practiced more random acts of kindness?
So, what’s in store for our readers this month? How about self-love for starters? Self-love is something most of us can use more of, right?!? I am so excited about my new health and wellness coaching column which is soon to debut. There is nothing more loving than taking care of ourselves. and each month there will be a topic that supports a better YOU and becoming the best version of yourself. We have sips and recipes as usual, including a Chocolate and Raspberry Martini, True Southern Hashbrown Casserole, and Lemon Chicken Poppyseed Casserole to name a few. We’ll have a great feature from the Book Club, along with your favorite columnists – Cindy Small, Denise Sissom, Sandy Williams, and of course founder Karen Shayne. Remember to follow us on social media for additional fun and festive content and announcements. We don’t want you to miss a thing!
I will close with remembering and sharing my favorite February quote by poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, “Love doesn’t make the world go round, love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” I hope your February is filled with love – and kindness – and that you Unconditionally enjoy the ride!
