Editor’s note: As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October we shared an article by first-time contributor, Jeanette Wirz. “One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is helping cancer survivors feel natural again,” says Jeanette owner of Jeanette Wirz Permanent Cosmetics. Now Jeanette is back to share a bit about brows!
Everyone can enjoy a natural enhancement to their appearance. For some ladies, microbladed eyebrows may be more of a necessity. Chemotherapy causes eyelashes and eyebrows to fall out which can make the face look featherless. Permanent cosmetics can help women recover their natural beauty, help with self-esteem, and can recreate a natural brow that has been lost to alopecia, trichotillomania, chemotherapy and over-plucking. For eyebrows that look natural, permanent cosmetic artists can customize the perfect microbladed eyebrows for you. JUST in time for the holidays! Who doesn’t want to have awesome looking brows, right?!
So what IS microblading, exactly? Microblading, also known as eyebrow embroidery is a cosmetic procedure considered permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Microblading may last between 1-3 years, depending on the type of skin one has, genetics, skincare routine and other variables. Microblading is done by using a hand tool with ultra fine needles and each ‘hair’ is gently etched into the skin, which creates a very natural and realistic look. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow for those with conditions that were mentioned above including women who have lost all of their brows due to chemo. It is a great choice for anyone who wants to enhance their brows or who have little to no eyebrows, thinning brows from age or over tweezed brows. Colored pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color and that complement one’s skin.
