Nashville – To say “What A Weekend!” would be an understatement to describe the inaugural production of Raleigh’s My 2nd Act: Survivor Stories from the Stage. Performing to a packed theater, the gals took to the stage as the re-branded stage show took flight both on the stage and around Raleigh, filmed for its inaugural television debut, and painting the town “survivorship strong” purple for the entire weekend.

“What an amazing weekend of survivorship,” stated Tara Dunsmore, Raleigh’s producer and owner of Pink Ink Tattoo. “Raleigh KNEW the stage show had arrived. There are no words to describe the sisterhood of survivorship and all the empowerment lighting the Fletcher Opera Theater stage. We are so grateful to Skin Raleigh, Davis and Pyle Plastic Surgery and Cancer Treatment Centers of America for helping us bring this amazing show to Raleigh, North Carolina. I can’t wait for next year!”

My 2nd Act: Survivor Stories from the Stage was re-branded in the spring. The new format allowed the stage show to turn the volume up and visibility of survivorship to a new level. Included in the re-branding, two co-hosts were added – Linda Ragsdale and Jessica Meyer. Extended backstories of cast members, backstage snippets and a weekend tour of the town by the cast deepened the filmed experience for future viewers, while a vendor expo of survivor products and their services, besides community services and supporters, expanded the survivorship network at the live event.

“I can’t believe the power of this event,” states Karen Shayne, Founder of the Women Survivors Alliance and Co-Executive Producer. “The re-branding of the stage show has allowed survivorship to be taken to a new level for the WSA and Raleigh was the perfect stage to begin this amazing journey. We are so grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing this vision to fruition.”

The Women Survivors Alliance continues its My 2nd Act tour to Houston and Birmingham in the fall with eight more dates added in 2017. The 90-minute streaming special will be aired on New Focus Network later this fall.
