On June 22, the Raleigh community came together in an inspiring show of unity and purpose for the annual Celebration of Life 5K Race/Walk. Participants from across the region—and even from out of state—joined us to honor loved ones, celebrate survivors, and contribute to the fight against cancer. The energy was electric as runners and walkers of all ages made their way along the course, creating a powerful reminder of the strength found in togetherness and shared hope.

One of the most moving moments of the day came early in the morning, as the sun rose and the luminarias were set along the path. Each glowing bag represented a story—some honoring survivors, others remembering those we’ve lost, and all symbolizing the hope that continues to drive us forward. With the morning sun beaming down, the luminarias created a beautiful, reflective space for participants to pause, remember, and find comfort in community. It was a powerful reminder that even in the face of loss, our collective light continues to shine.

Thanks to the incredible turnout and generosity of our participants, sponsors, and volunteers, we proudly raised $5,500 for the Jimmy V Foundation. These funds will go directly toward groundbreaking cancer research, continuing the legacy of Jim Valvano’s unforgettable message: “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.” We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this event possible and look forward to growing this tradition of remembrance, resilience, and impact in the years to come.

This meaningful event was held in partnership with Amazing Grace Event Management – Rhonda Hicks and Unconditionally Her, whose vision and dedication helped bring every detail to life. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors: Personalized Hematology-Oncology of Wake Forest, Heritage Urgent Primary Care, Distinctive Designs by Dani, Wegmans, Talk Health with Frankie, Granville Vance Public Health, and Myra’s Angels Foundation.
