On day two of our mountain adventure to Cherokee, North Carolina we both took a step back in time to our favorite childhood fantasy of Christmas.  With the holidays around the corner, we couldn’t help ourselves – Christmas was in order.  And, just outside of Cherokee lies a place of pure enchantment – Santa’s Land Fun Park and Zoo. This hidden gem offers a whimsical escape into the world of Santa Claus, making it the perfect destination for families and kids.

Santa’s Land Fun Park & Zoo has been open since 1966 and is still under the same family ownership and still offers the plethora of activities and attractions that will keep the whole family entertained.  In addition to holiday-style festivities, families will come face to face with some of the most beautiful, wild and exotic animals from around the world.  In the zoo you will see various deer and goats, exotic birds and farm animals, and baby black bears.

The highlight of any visit to Santa’s Land is, of course, meeting the big guy in red himself, Santa Claus. And, in pure Santa fashion, we couldn’t help but find ourselves back in childlike-land as we watched children’s faces light up as they sat on Santa’s lap where he patiently listened to their wishes, and posed for photos, creating a memory that will last a lifetime.

Now, even being women of a certain age, we couldn’t help ourselves.  So, we made the impulsive choice to embark on a wild adventure through the amusement park.  We decided we would take ourselves on the kid-sized thrill rides determined to prove that age is just a number. Little did we know that their roller coaster of emotions would begin with trying to fit into kiddie-sized rides. It was an adventure that would leave us laughing, screaming, and (at times) questioning their momentary choices.  But, we certainly created memories that will become legendary among our circle of friends.

A visit to Santa;’s Land in Cherokee, North Carolina, is more than just a day trip; it’s an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of the holiday season. With its charming atmosphere, exciting activities, and the chance to meet Santa Claus himself, it’s no wonder that Santa Land has become a cherished tradition for families seeking festive magic and holiday joy. Whether you’re young or young at heart, a day at Santa Land is a day filled with enchantment and wonder, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Santa’s Land Fun Park & Zoo is located in the Smoky Mountains on US Hwy 19 just 3 miles east of Cherokee, NC and the southern entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park us seasonal and is open Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday & Friday from mid May until the end of October. We are closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays throughout the year.

For us, well…it’s hard to say how many charms we could give this excursion.  However, just for the belly laughs we give this day four (4) charms.
