Spring officially arrived this year on March 20 at 9:46 a.m. CST. The days are stretching a little longer, daffodils are blooming, and trees are beginning to bud—there’s a fresh sense of newness in the air.
But what about inside your home?
Does it feel a little dusty, maybe even a bit cluttered? This time of year has a way of stirring up the desire to clean, organize, and refresh our spaces… but if you’re like me, it can also feel overwhelming.
That’s why I use a simple system—and it all starts with a list.

I love lists. But even more than that, I love checking things off my list.
Instead of trying to tackle everything at once, I focus on one room at a time and write down every single task that needs to be done—yes, even the smallest ones. Nothing is too minor to include.
So grab a cup of coffee, find a comfy chair, and a sheet of paper… and let’s begin.
Start with just one room—let’s say the living room.
As you go through each room, remember to start a giveaway pile or box. There are many places that will gladly take your items—not just clothes and shoes, but also accessories, books, puzzles, movies, home décor, kitchenware, and dishes.
Ask yourself: What needs to be done?
Write it all down:
Ceiling fan: change the light bulbs, clean the covers, wipe down the blades
Couch: vacuum under the cushions, rotate them, clean underneath
End tables: clean out drawers, wipe surfaces
Entertainment center: dust, organize albums, even make a simple list or spreadsheet if you want
You get the idea.
Here’s the beauty of this method: even if you only have time to do one small thing—like cleaning the light bulb covers—you get to check it off your list. And that means you’ve made progress.
One small task at a time, the room begins to feel lighter, cleaner, and more peaceful. And before you know it, what once felt overwhelming becomes completely doable.
So start small, keep your list close, and enjoy the satisfaction of each little checkmark along the way.
