A honest, unsponsored review after years of boxes on my front porch.
If you’ve ever wondered whether personal styling services are actually worth it, you’re not alone.
Do they really get to know your style? Will they send clothes you’ll actually wear? Or is it just another subscription you’ll cancel after two boxes?
I asked myself the same questions during COVID.
Like so many of us, I was looking for something fun to brighten an otherwise unusual season of life. One afternoon, while scrolling online, I came across Stitch Fix. Instead of wandering through stores, a personal stylist would choose clothing based on my preferences and send it directly to my door.
I thought, why not?
Opening that first box felt a little like Christmas morning. Some pieces weren’t for me, but others quickly became favorites I still wear today.
Eventually, life got busy again, and I canceled.
A couple of years later, curiosity got the best of me. If Stitch Fix was this enjoyable, how did the other services compare? So I signed up for Wantable and DAILYLOOK too. My experience with each was different — but one service clearly earned my loyalty.

Stitch Fix Review
If someone asked me which personal styling service I’d recommend, my answer is Stitch Fix.
The process couldn’t be easier. After completing a detailed style profile — sizes, budget, lifestyle, favorite colors, clothing preferences — a stylist curates a shipment designed specifically for you.
What surprised me wasn’t just the clothing. It was my stylist.
After only a few boxes, she genuinely seemed to understand me. She introduced me to brands I’d never have considered, encouraged me to try pieces outside my comfort zone, and consistently chose clothing that fit both my personality and my life. Many of my favorite wardrobe staples today came from Stitch Fix.
What I loved:
- Personalized styling that improved over time
- Excellent variety of brands
- Clothing across a wide range of budgets
- Convenient home try-on experience
- Easy, prepaid returns
- Great for women with busy schedules
What could be better:
- Stylist assignment. You can request the same stylist, but I wasn’t always matched with mine — and once she understood my preferences, she nailed every shipment. Starting over with someone new felt like losing a trusted shopping partner.
- Inventory changes frequently, so requested items aren’t always available.
Wantable Review
Wantable takes a different approach: a larger shipment with more options. I liked being able to preview many selections before they shipped, and I found the styles youthful and fashion-forward.
I enjoyed trying it — but I never ended up purchasing anything. The clothing simply didn’t feel as consistently “me” as what I got from Stitch Fix.
Pros:
- More clothing choices per shipment
- Preview-and-swap options
- Excellent activewear and lounge collections
- Great for women who enjoy trying trends
Cons:
- Styling felt less personalized
- Larger shipments made choosing harder
- I didn’t purchase any of the pieces
DAILYLOOK Review
Of the three, DAILYLOOK surprised me the most. The styling felt elevated, polished, and sophisticated — many pieces looked like they’d come from a boutique rather than a department store. I genuinely loved a lot of the selections.
The reason I didn’t buy anything had little to do with the clothing itself. It came down to price. Many pieces were simply more than I wanted to spend on everyday clothing.
If you’re building a professional wardrobe, or don’t mind investing in higher-end fashion, DAILYLOOK is absolutely worth considering.
Pros:
- Beautiful, elevated styling
- High-quality contemporary brands
- Excellent for professional wardrobe pieces
- Sophisticated overall aesthetic
Cons:
- Higher styling fee
- Higher clothing prices
- Best suited for women ready to invest in premium fashion
Stitch Fix vs Wantable vs DAILYLOOK: Which Is Best?
For me, the answer is simple: Stitch Fix.
Not because every shipment was perfect — it wasn’t. Not because it was the cheapest. And certainly not because the others weren’t good; I genuinely admired DAILYLOOK’s elevated style and appreciated the variety Wantable offered.
But Stitch Fix consistently understood me. It introduced me to brands I might never have discovered, pushed me outside my comfort zone, and helped me build a wardrobe full of pieces I still wear. That relationship with my stylist made all the difference.
More Than a Clothing Subscription
What surprised me most had nothing to do with fashion. These services are simply fun — there’s something delightful about hearing the delivery truck pull into the driveway and wondering what’s inside.
But like most enjoyable things, I think they have their own season. For me, they were perfect during COVID, when I needed a little unexpected joy. A few years later, they became a fun way to freshen up my wardrobe and see what was new.
Would I subscribe forever? No. Life — and fashion — is cyclical, and I don’t think these services are meant to be long-term. For most women, once you’ve discovered your style, your closet starts to reflect who you are, and you don’t need a box arriving every month.
But am I glad I tried them? Absolutely. Every once in a while, it’s fun to let someone else surprise you. And sometimes, confidence arrives in a simple box on your front porch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Stitch Fix better than Wantable?
In my experience, yes — but it depends on what you’re looking for. Stitch Fix offers more personalized styling that improves the longer you use it, while Wantable sends larger shipments with more trend-forward, preview-first options. If you want a stylist who truly gets to know you over time, Stitch Fix has the edge. If you want more choices to browse and swap before anything ships, Wantable is worth a look.
Is DAILYLOOK worth the price?
If you’re building a professional or higher-end wardrobe, absolutely. The styling is polished and boutique-quality, and the pieces are made to last. If you’re shopping on a tighter everyday budget, Stitch Fix will likely feel like the better value.
How many boxes does it take before the stylist “gets” your style?
For me, it took about three boxes with Stitch Fix before my stylist really understood my preferences. That’s also why staying with the same stylist — when possible — makes such a difference.
Can you cancel a personal styling subscription anytime?
Yes, all three services (Stitch Fix, Wantable, and DAILYLOOK) let you pause or cancel whenever you’d like, with no long-term contract required.

Editor’s Note: This article reflects my personal experience after trying all three services over several years. I purchased clothing from Stitch Fix but did not purchase clothing from Wantable or DAILYLOOK. I was not compensated by any of these companies, and all opinions are my own.
