There are some souls who arrive in this world quietly, in the smallest bodies, with the biggest lessons to give.
Wilbur was one of those souls—a special needs dog whose story would touch far more lives than anyone expected.
He came into the world with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a neurological condition that affects balance and coordination. For Wilbur, that meant a wobbly walk and eventually wheels that helped him move through the world.
But if you spent even a few minutes around him, the first thing you noticed wasn’t the wobble.
It was his personality.

Wilbur had a way of making people smile instantly. His big eyes, his determination, and the way he confidently wheeled himself into every situation made it clear that he had absolutely no intention of letting anything slow him down.
Wilbur came into Kendra’s life as a foster pup through Boston Terrier Rescue Canada.
Fostering is something special. It’s not just opening your home; it’s opening your heart to an animal who may have had a difficult start in life. Foster families give dogs safety, patience, and love while they wait for their forever homes.
Sometimes, though, something different happens.
The dog you’re fostering becomes family.
That’s what happened with Wilbur.
Kendra didn’t just care for him—she created a life for him. A life filled with sunshine, walks in his wheels, backpack rides, time outdoors, and endless cuddles.
Wilbur experienced things many people might assume a dog with special needs wouldn’t enjoy. But he did, and he loved every second of it.

He became a proud little ambassador for Cerebellar Hypoplasia awareness, showing the world that a special needs dog like Wilbur can still live a happy, full life with the right support.
Wilbur mattered to a lot of people, and his story reached far beyond one home.
Dogs like Wilbur have a way of reminding us what resilience looks like. They move through the world without self-pity, without fear of being different. They simply live—fully, happily, and with complete trust in the people who care for them.
Kendra is one of the most compassionate, selfless people I know. Fostering animals, especially those with medical needs, isn’t easy. It requires patience, commitment, and the ability to love deeply even when you know it may hurt one day.
She walked straight into the hardest parts of rescue work and gave Wilbur exactly what he needed most: safety, stability, and a place where he always belonged.
He stayed beside her through some of her darkest moments, displaying a loyalty anyone who saw them together could feel. Wilbur lived a life filled with humour, adventure, and love.
He made people smile, showed love in return, and most importantly, he mattered.
