As 2017 comes to a close, we at Unconditionally Her received a bit of incredible news this week. Oh, how excited we were when we got the news that our own Karen Shayne was recognized as one of three “Warrior Women of 2017” by Only Good News – Hooplaha for her work through the Women Survivors Alliance (WSA).
Only Good News discovers great tales about real people and shines the spotlight on those whose actions are inspiring with a positive social impact. The organization is committed to providing a hopeful narrative on humanity and developing original videos of individuals and organizations focused on overcoming adversity, paying it forward, kindness, gratitude and happiness.
As we celebrated the 5-year anniversary of WSA this summer at SURVIVORville, we celebrated the hope and inspiration WSA gave – and continues to give – to women from around the world as they face the world as cancer survivors. WSA has touched the lives of more than 3,000 women from 49 states and 5 countries and those numbers continue to grow. Because of one “warrior woman” – though she will tell you that it takes a “warrior village” of volunteers – lives have been changed.
It is with great pleasure that we share the announcement naming Karen Shayne as one of three “Warrior Women of 2017” as we wrap up the 2017 year. Our appreciation goes out to all of the “warrior village” as well who make the work of the WSA possible. Let’s ALL make 2018 a great year and continue that warrior spirit of education, encouragement, inspiration, and support that Karen has modeled so well.
