“I must have flowers always, and always.” – Claude Monet

Welcome to Unconditionally Her and to May. It’s going to be another beautiful month. Just look at my pink cherry tree! I absolutely love my cherry blossoms and this one never fails to disappoint. Did you know in 1912 Cherry Blossom trees were first planted in Washington, DC as a gift of friendship from the people of Japan to the people of the United States? It is reported that 3,020 trees were planted with twelve varieties. Later in 1915, President Taft returned the favor saying “thank you” to Japan by sending flowering dogwood trees. I have never been to the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC which is held every spring, but as much as I love my flowering cherries, I need to think about that for next spring! Until then, I sure do enjoy seeing them in my yard and when out and about. I hope our readers are finding joy in this colorful time of the year and even taking in some of these spectacular trees so popular this time of the year.

We have lots of color to bring to your world this month and are so excited about what’s in store! We want to share the NEW and exciting Campus Diaries book with our readers, and ohhh, this book is just spectacular. I don’t want to steal Karen and Lorna’s thunder, but suffice it to say this book will touch your heart and will inspire so many and we look forward to sharing more about it in our upcoming feature article. Please look for it early this month! Also, it’s “Mom’s Month” with Mother’s Day in May and several features throughout the month in honor of mothers – of all kinds and varieties. Be it biological moms, stepmoms, grandmoms, adoptive moms, pet moms, ALL moms are special and can bring so much color and joy to our lives. It’s also National BBQ Day on May 16th so of course we’ll have a feature on that as well of our “Sip of the Month” feature AND “Boat Bites” are back! If you missed “Boat Bites” last year, dig back through our archives and see what you missed and check it out the new feature coming later this month. Cindy Small is one of our most colorful contributors and she is back with another engaging feature that only Cindy can pull off, and I’ll be coming at you with a great health-focused article to make sure we are all taking care of ourselves during this month of women’s health. We’ve got a girl’s trip to Vegas feature as we wrap up May and head towards Memorial Day. Wow, what a colorful month indeed!

Have a beautiful, inspiring, and colorful May!
