Welcome to Unconditionally Her and to the month of March, another step closer to spring! As always, one never knows what to expect with the weather in March, at least not in Nashville. I’m up for the mystery of what will unfold each morning when I get up and not knowing which season’s closet to pull from one day to the next– winter or spring! With St. Patrick’s Day upon us mid-month, I’ll look forward to that brand of green until we get the real deal outside!
Speaking of St. Patrick’s Day, here are some fun facts about St. Patrick and St. Patrick’s Day that I didn’t know. What about you?
- Blue was the color originally associated with St Patrick before the adoption of green as the color for the festival and was featured in the royal court and on ancient Irish flags. The color green became officially associated with the day in 1798.
- The first St. Patrick’s Day New York City parade took place in 1762 and now has over 150,000 participants and is the world’s oldest civilian parade and the largest in the United States. The parade has more than 3 million spectators along the 1.5-mile route and lasts five hours.
- Almost 12% of Americans claim Irish ancestry and there are more people of Irish ancestry living in the United States than in Ireland.
So, as we march through the “green” month of March, what’s going on in our corner of the world? Plenty! First, we have a very exciting announcement mid-month that we cannot WAIT to share. It’s been a long time in the making and while I am a bit biased, I am SUPER-excited to roll out this big announcement that involves the UNTOLD project. Prepare to be amazed! We’ll also have UNTOLD stories as we do each month along with several recipes – Cabbage Casserole, Stuffed Sweet Peppers, Muffletti, and more – a festive sip-of-the-month, and plenty of inspiration and motivation. March marks National Nutrition Month as well as International Women’s Month, and we even celebrate World Teen and Wellness Day. Of course, don’t forget to wear your green on the 17th for St. Patty’s Day for good luck! March is sure to please and we are so glad to have you share it with us.
Here’s to March and marching forward to what lies ahead for spring 2022!
